Building Families Fund
|
orphanCare's parent
organization, Dillon International, Inc., offers
the Building Families Fund to assist children
with special needs to become more accessible for
adoption and find a permanent family by covering some of
the expenses families would incur in adopting these
children. The average grant with the Building
Families Fund is $2,000, but may be more or less
depending upon an individual family's need.
The Building Families
Fund was established by several Dillon adoptive
families who wanted to share their joy in adoption with
other deserving families while helping the growing
number of children with special needs have the
opportunity to have a loving family and a better life. The
fund is ONLY available to families who are
adopting through Dillon International.

The Quinn Fund
Dillon International maintains a
benevolent fund, The Quinn Fund, for families adopting from
Korea in need of financial assistance in order to complete an
adoption.
Although preference is given to
families adopting children with special needs, all families
facing financial challenges with their adoption expenses are
encouraged to apply for a grant. Unless there are extenuating
circumstances, most applicants receiving grants make less than
$50,000 annually. Average grant amounts are between $2,000 and
$3,000. To be considered for financial assistance from this
fund, families must submit a written request to Dillon
International explaining in detail their need for assistance and
describing their plans for paying the balance of the adoption
expenses.
The decision for granting
financial assistance will be made by a committee consisting of
members of the social work and administrative staff of Dillon
International. If the committee decides to give a Quinn Fund
grant to a family, the specified amount is applied to the
family’s adoption financial account.
Adoptive parents, grandparents,
and friends contribute to the Quinn Fund, most on a regular
basis. At times, an appeal is sent to specific donors or
potential donors to contribute to this fund. All donations to
the Quinn Fund are made with the understanding that they cannot
be specified for a particular family, and the use of the funds
is at the discretion of the committee. All donors receive a
thank you letter and tax receipt.

Endowment Program
Having placed over 5,600 children
with loving families since 1972, Dillon wants to ensure that we
will continue to serve children joining families today and
families who are yet to come together. Looking ahead to
the next 37 years, we see tremendous opportunities to build
families and improve the lives of children in need. In
order to see these goals become reality, we are compelled to
look to the future. We are pleased to have the Dillon
International Endowment Fund.
Initiated by a sizeable
contribution from the Meyer and Whitwell families of Tulsa, OK,
the endowment helps perpetuate the unique culture of caring that
families have come to expect from Dillon International.
The gift from these two adoptive families affirms the agency's
core principles and will help to perpetuate the meaningful
mission embraced by our organization.
With stewardship of any gift as a
primary concern, the endowment funds will be held in trust for
Dillon International and invested conservatively by the
trustees. Annually, a portion of the income generated by
the endowment fund will be distributed to Dillon International
to help offset operational and program expenses. The
remainder of the income, along with additional donations, will
be added to the fund allowing it to grow and provide increasing
resources for new programs at Dillon International in the
future.
Our initial goal is to raise $2
million. The two families along with the Dillon
International Board of Directors look forward to your
involvement in the success and growth of the endowment. If
you are interested in assisting with this campaign or
contributing financially, please contact
Tonnie Dosser, Director of Development, at 918.749.4600 or
by e-mail.
